A Club D with a difference as Derwent does rave, teaming up with Breakz to bring you Rave D!

It promises to deliver the familiar Derwent social mayhem, fused with our custom arsenal of upfront dance and heavy drum & bass to keep you waving your glowsticks in the air all night long. We’ll be banging out sets on the big rig throughout the event, interspersed with sessions from the Club D residents delivering their own brand of classic Camembert. Love Music, Hate Racism, the grand finale to Black History Week, takes place this Sat in Vanbrugh.

Breakz will be there in force, mixing up the tunes in the bar and JCR. The night showcases the best upfront drum & bass out there, along with hip-hop, smooth R&B, slamming funky house, and the usual mix of chart & cheese. With performances from ACS, Dance Soc, Apply the Brakes, Samba Band, Capoeria, and of course Breakz, this event promises to cater for even the most eclectic musical taste. See you there!

Update: Breakz favourites Continuum are also performing. They’ll be doing a DJ set with live instruments, drums and MCing, playing some of their favourite tracks as well as their own material.

First Breakz social of the year!

Our first social of the year takes place upstairs in Dusk on Tuesday (16 Oct). Running from 9pm till 2am, all cocktails are two for the price of one! The Breakz residents will be playing a heavy mix of hip-hop, dubstep and drum & bass for your aural delectation.

September’s Hijacked brings you something very special… a double bill of breaks and drum & bass from Liquid and DEADlock’d!

Liquid first appeared on the scene with the rave classic Sweet Harmony and has DJed in the Ministry of Sound, Fantazia and many other clubs around the world. Signed to XL Recordings, he is currently working on a new album, due out later this year.

And we are delighted to announce the return of Breakz residents DEADlock’d, performing their unique blend of upfront three DJ, four deck action. They will be cutting up tunes from hip-hop, breaks and thundering dnb and mixing them to perfection, before serving it up for your aural consumption at a simmering 170BPM.

Barbequed Beats arrives at Cert 18 on Sun 26 Aug, brought to you by the crew behind the Herbal Mafia and SoulSpun nights. Mixing up over 20 musical performers playing disparate musical styles, a BBQ, graffiti artists, an open mic session and even a free pool table. The doors are open to all for free all day, so you can bake in the sun for 6 hours before mashing it up on the dance floor for another 6.

The music includes reggae, dub, hip-hop, grime, dubstep, breaks, funky house, techno, psy-trance and, of course, drum and bass.

Woodstock 2007 takes place this Saturday (23 June). This year there will be 12 hours of music performed by 27 bands across indoor and outdoor stages, with headline performances from Make It Better Later, Fenna Rhodes and the True Ingredients, …Accept Instruction and Apply the Breaks. Breakz Battle of the Bands picks Tape Pack (live dnb - 1800 indoor stage) and Vudu Guru (dnb / Arabic melodies) are both performing as well.

Representing pre-recorded music, Breakz and the Herbal Mafia join together bring you a marathon 12 hour DJ session. We will be playing out the tunes in Vanbrugh JCR throughout the entire event, starting off with some reggae to provide you with a mellifluous backdrop for your day in the sun. Things step up a gear at around 8, when we kick off with dubstep and breaks action for a couple of hours, before climaxing with our trademark thundering drum and bass finale.

Far more than just a Club D, Big D brings you live music, DJ sets, fairground rides and many other performances spread across Derwent and Langwith colleges. This year’s circus-themed Big D offers you a bouncy castle, bungee, rodeo bull, surf ride, three bars, BBQ, beer tent, ice cream and candyfloss.

Musically, Lil’ Chris will be headlining, with performances from Platinum, OMNI, York Samba, Comedy Soc and Juggle Soc. And of course Breakz will be there, mixing up the tunes all night.
