Leeman Road, York

Friday 30th June

7pm-1am.
£4 entry before 10pm, £5 after.

Widescreen gets all geared up for the Summer with a totally funkadellic vibe this month, demonstrating the true variety of the night.

Headlining we have the mighty Buckley, veteran of the house scene and resident at BacktoBasics in Leeds and the infamous Space in Ibiza. This will be his last set in the UK before he flies off to the Balearics, so make sure you get down the Junction to check out his classy funky sound for his first ever gig in York!

“Buckley Boland is a proper resident DJ through and through. There are not many DJ’s in the UK, let alone the world that have a biography that stretches from being a resident at the first ever Renaissance night in ‘92 to the legendary Hacienda in Manchester. After uncounted other residencies he’s now at the infamous Back to Basics in Leeds, where he remains resident to this day. As well as being the ‘residents resident’, Buckley also travels the world guesting at clubs such as Space in Ibiza and he has just toured the US. Never one to go out and try to get press, Buckley has been slowly carving a niche sound, which takes in all flavours of underground house music.” - worldandsound.net

We are also proud to present The Projects, York’s very own trip-hop/urban band, playing an eclectic mix of breakbeats, acid jazz and chilled housey vibes, led by some amazingly soulful female vocals, backed with flutes and sax section. File under psychedelic soul.

" Superb! Delightfully lush production, and dreamy vocals. Deserves to be played on hot lawns all summer!" - Scobie Hodgson. Tuffduckpod.com pod casts
HIGHEST DOWNLOAD CHART POSITION-7 (25/12/05) A powerhouse of a band. One minute trip-hoppin, beat-breakin, jazz-funkin, RnB meets classic brassrock, the next minute full-on Morcheeba, Ronni Size, St Germaine, Portishead, Gong, Massive Attack and Led Zep all at once! Blinding! "Deliciously soulful female vocals, brim -full of emotion, backed by power guitar, saxes, flutes and the most solid funky hiphop groove you are likely to hear" - Isound.com

Gazzmann will be warming up the procession with an eclectic chilled mix of ambient and alternative grooves, so make sure you get down early. Further support will be coming from Fudance and his laptop with Ableton Live and some funk and house sounds, and our trusty floating resident Alex Alterskye with his jacking tech house vibe, that will be paving the way for Buckley to follow.

It’s another superb and varied line-up to keep you all happy, lets hope the weather reflects our Balearic mood.
