labels:
fusetrax
moving shadow cryptic
CNM Records (about 5 cheeky bootlegs)
passenger
mob (a bit techie, less hardcore)

DDB (many many booties. some better than others)
hacker (more booties. excellent prod)
Cyberfunk Recordings
Mechanoise
lucky 7 (trancey booties)
Deepcut Recordings

producers

Aquasky vs Masterblaster
Deekline & Wizard (a wee bit uk garagey but alright)
Baobinga
Breakfasterz (not my faves but they seem to be popular)
DJ Icey - yank producer - practically invented breakbeat. very energetic choons. legend
Ed 209
DJ Era
DJ Quest
Freq Nasty
Scam / S.C.A.M.
Skool Of Thought
Sunz Of Mecha
autobots (booties)

also

Sweet. I found a cool deekline and wizard remix of my my my, pretty groovy. Hehe

Chris
04-03-2005, 13:42
yeah the original and that remix were pretty popular. im not a big fan to be honest. i would have been a few months back but now i try to be really critical about choons - my wallet can't afford to buy less than perfect records anymore :(

go with your instincts tho, i'd love to hear a nuskool breaks set from someone else - i think you're the man to do it. we can start doin back2backs!

yeah me vs nick doin hip hop, me mixin, him scratchin AND me vs u breakbeat, nick possibly scratchin (although he doesn't like scratchin over breaks)...then finally u and nick playin dnb, not back2back tho as i know double drops doesn't work like that :p

i love it when a plan comes together!

Sounds good, I need to start buying records tho, well poor at the moment. I can be less picky with my tunes tho since I can just put the ones I dont want to buy onto CDs, hehehe.

yo bill, i know ur a fellow fan of evil 9 so i don't need to sell them to u. i recommend all of their work to date. the album's worth gettin on vinyl if u can (although u do have a cd player now) purely bcoz then u can play that pornography tune and also devil stuff and hired goons. i bought the single 'restless' by them but am not so keen on it now. their earlier work is more techie freeland style eg. less stress: http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF53474-01-01-01.mp3 and cakehole: http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF104671-01-01-01.mp3 - both ok but not quite the rock-breaks sound they have developed

let me know what choons u buy...

Bill
10-03-2005, 13:00
Yeah, I wanna buy you can be special too on vinyl but nowhere had it in stock last time I checked. Tempted by now & them as well, we shall see...

Bill
10-03-2005, 13:14
tell a lie, juno had it in so I've ordered you can be special too and put your hands up/acid love by scam. Acid love is well fat.

Chris
10-03-2005, 15:46

Hi, Just posted a reply here regarding adding links to labels, but then realised that it contained sensitive info, so I moved the post to here:

Bill

Chris
11-03-2005, 23:46

a bit on acid love from piccadilly records for your interest...

SCAM : Put Your Hands Up / Acid Love
Deepcut
Put Your Hands Up
Acid Love
The sixth release on this fast growing label comes courtesy of SCAM, who are made up from members of Krafty Kuts and The Freestylers. "Put Your Hands Up" is a breaks reworking of Johnny Osbourne's "Buddy Bye", itself a track using the famous 80s digital reggae track "Under Mi Sleng Teng" by Wayne Smith. Reactions to this twelve have thus far been exceptional, with a large number of DJs getting very hot under the collar about it. Plump DJs, Loose Cannons and James Zabiela are all playing it out, with radio support coming from Steve Lamacq, Eddy Temple Morris, Commie at MOS Radio and a selection of internet and pirate stations all backing the tracks. It's also number eight in the DJ Magazine Breaks & Beats Chart.

yo bill,

some breakbeat dirtiness on forthcoming section of chemical from dj quest & backdraft and also the slag bros. nothing groundbreaking but worth a listen

Bill
22-03-2005, 11:25
I got a 20 min video of quest mixing, doesn't seem to be ana amazing dj from that vid but he plays some stomping tunes

Bill

If by some bizarre twist of realisty you dont have subfocus - x ray, get it at chemical records. Most useful tune I've got in a while, douple drops with everything.

Chris

Bill
01-04-2005, 23:59
they are now, dunno if they were when u asked, i been out for ages. Lots of filthy stompers on there.

Chris
02-04-2005, 00:33
i've created a monster!

thats some good shit there bill! i've got the 1st mix - lots of heavy stomping + nice use of freeland accapella! im on dial up so i'll download the 2nd one 2morro

did u use a mix of we want your soul or put the accapella over another choon?

can u put up a tracklisitng?

ps. 1st mix was 26 mins long on my cpu. is that right?

:rave!:

Bill
02-04-2005, 14:08
Cheers man, glad you thinks its alright. The second mix was meant to be less stomping but if enything its even more so. We want your soul is the infusion mix, just used bass killswitch to put it in early without sounding messy.
First mix is actually 41mins but i dunno if that means i fucked up uploading it of you fucked up downloading it, i'll try to check.
Tracklisting will take a little longer as i cant remember what half the songs are anymore but I'll listen thru and figure it out later today.

Chris

Bill, you've rekindled my love affair with breaks of the bassline variety

Went to manchester on a records crusade yesterday:

got the breaks booty of The Killers. I ummed and ahhed for ages over it but after havin a listen concluded that it would sit well in a stompin breaks set. a nicely done remix. also got the new rennie pilgrem choon - Gladiator (The Sequel) - absolutely crazy rockin choon - check it! - got these 2 from hmv - kicks arse on york's hmv (sadly ;-( )

also got a rarity from vinyl exchange (mr scruff and dj shadow go here  ) - an old us remixes bootleg from 1996 - contains a cool 'tenaglia hip hop lounge remix' of an old dr dre choon + a mega rare breakbeat remix of rem's shiny happy people. no idea when i'll ever play these choons but couldn't not buy them.

Bill
04-04-2005, 16:05

Chris

ok guys vinyl tracker at your service:

Bill:
1. the portishead/nas mash-up is on chemical and in stock
Dangermouse :: Early Years 2001-2003 [See Info] :: white :: £7.99 (£6.80 exc VAT)

2. the freq nasty/public enemy mash-up is available at
http://www.distinctiverecords.com/
it's called: Freq Nasty Vs Public Enemy - Amp Tha Noise (Y4K)

Nick:
1. this one's a bit tougher. the choon u want is the one that goes 'this is a journey into sound' . james zabiela starts his Alive mix with these 2 choons: Luke Vibert - Ambalek, and Diplomat - Number One DJ & MC Crew. i don't think its actually these choons tho, as in the sleeve notes zabiela writes that he just put the journey into sound vocal over the top. it doesn't actually get credited in the tracklisting :( i'll keep my feelers out tho

Dave:
sorry i got no idea of the dnb choon you're after :(
