Breakz has been running some of the best underground dance nights in York this year, this will be no exception - don’t miss out. Bristol has always been the creative home of some of the UK’s most inspired artists, and no exception can be found in legendary Drum & Bass producer Clipz. A pioneer of the jump-up style, Clipz began creating tracks in his bedroom from the age of 21, and set up his Emcee Recordings label in 1999. His Showtime EP stormed raves across the country, gaining him support and recognition from DJs at the forefront of the scene. He further gained momentum as an artist with tracks such as ‘Mystic Amen’ and ‘Cuban Links’, and soon after signed to legendary Full Cycle Records under the wing of producers Roni Size and DJ Die. Anthems such as ‘Sound Boy’, ‘Cocoa’, ‘Hold Tight’, ‘Slippery Slopes’ and ‘New Generation’ sold in their thousands, and Clipz formed a strong partnership in the studio with DJ Die, crafting modern day classics like ‘Black Doves’, ‘Monorail’ and ‘Number 1’.
In 2006, Clipz broke out on his own with Audio Zoo Recordings, kicking off with ‘Download’ and ‘Rubbish’, the two biggest selling D&B records that year. Clipz also had a strong desire to create a visual element to tie in with his label, resulting in his music videos being played on MTV. His most recent releases on Audio Zoo are ‘Offline’ and ‘Ugly’ featuring Hollie G, two anthems being blasted at raves around the world. He is currently producing tracks for Ben Westbeech’s new album and working on a recording project called S.C.U.M. featuring the vocal talents of Shiv. All this, and he holds down a monthly radio show.
Clipz finds himself in huge demand across the globe, but on May 16th 2008, he will be joining us for Breakz @ Ziggys. This undoubtedly will be a legendary night and certainly one to remember in the evolution of the Yorkshire Drum & Bass scene.
