ED RUSH : Ziggy’s : Fri 7 Mar

Breakz presents Ed Rush Event PosterComing soon to York… ED RUSH! On Friday 7 March, Breakz brings you Ed Rush, headlining a night of drum and bass mayhem in Ziggy’s. This is guaranteed to be an unforgettable event, with a choice selection of breaks, dubstep and some of the best D&B you’ll ever hear.

Ed Rush features prominently amongst the current leaders of new school drum and bass, and was one of the principal drivers behind the resurgence of the dark dnb sound, pushing it to new levels. He is credited with introducing the techstep and neurofunk styles, and changing the direction of the scene towards the sound we know and love today. Ed Rush is undoubtedly one of the biggest influences on modern drum and bass.

His most significant collaborations have been with Optical. Together, they created their own label, Virus, releasing many recordings that have met with critical and underground success.

More recently, Ed Rush and Optical have released another genre-defining LP, the Creeps. The album helped them to win Knowledge drum and bass award for producers of the year. Look out for the most recent release ‘Chameleon’, their first ‘live’ album.

There will also be support from many Breakz residents and guests on the night, ensuring a packed schedule of top class music to keep you dancing until 3 in the morning.

Thanks to everyone who made it along to the Ed Rush gig on Friday. I think it’s fair to say it was pretty amazing. Ed Rush played an absolutely storming headline set, and we had nearly 200 people crammed onto the tiny square of dance floor in front of the DJ booth at times. Ben said afterwards that he’d had a really good time, and that it was the first time he’d caused a mosh pit to form at a gig!
