A Club D with a difference as Derwent does rave, teaming up with Breakz to bring you Rave D!

It promises to deliver the familiar Derwent social mayhem, fused with our custom arsenal of upfront dance and heavy drum & bass to keep you waving your glowsticks in the air all night long. We’ll be banging out sets on the big rig throughout the event, interspersed with sessions from the Club D residents delivering their own brand of classic Camembert. Hey Boy, Hey Girl… Want to be a superstar DJ?

The Breakz DJ lessons start again this Thursday. Whether you’re a vinyl virgin or a veritable scratch pervert, our resident DJs will be there to do everything from introducing you the decks to honing your double drops.*

We’ve had some great sessions over the past two years, and seen some quite amazing rates of progression – most people get pretty good at the basics in three to four weeks, so you could be mixing it up at your own party this Christmas!

Love Music, Hate Racism, the grand finale to Black History Week, takes place this Sat in Vanbrugh.

Breakz will be there in force, mixing up the tunes in the bar and JCR. The night showcases the best upfront drum & bass out there, along with hip-hop, smooth R&B, slamming funky house, and the usual mix of chart & cheese. With performances from ACS, Dance Soc, Apply the Brakes, Samba Band, Capoeria, and of course Breakz, this event promises to cater for even the most eclectic musical taste. See you there!

Update: Breakz favourites Continuum are also performing. They’ll be doing a DJ set with live instruments, drums and MCing, playing some of their favourite tracks as well as their own material.

Reload takes place at Cert 18 this Saturday (20 Oct). Herbal Mafia team up with Brainwash Beats for a dark and dirty session featuring Rogue State and Bongo Chilli for a grime, dubstep, UKG, ragga, jungle and D&B bass fest, with Breakz residents Sh!ne MC and DJ Yenz performing on the night.

First Breakz social of the year!

Our first social of the year takes place upstairs in Dusk on Tuesday (16 Oct). Running from 9pm till 2am, all cocktails are two for the price of one! The Breakz residents will be playing a heavy mix of hip-hop, dubstep and drum & bass for your aural delectation.

We’re also running a DJ competition to find our new Breakz resident. So if you fancy supporting big name DJs in the near future, bring some tunes down and rinse it out!

Yes, it’s that time of year again… Welcome (again) to York and to Breakz for another year of musical mayhem!

Breakz is the society on campus devoted to promoting drum & bass, breaks and hip-hop, with some dubstep, ragga and jungle thrown in for good measure. If you came to Access All Areas, hopefully you caught us mixing up some serious tunage in Vanbrugh for your aural delectation. We were apparently the last people on campus to stop the music (at 2:40 am), so it looks like we’ve got a hardcore crew this year!
